Objectives:
(1)
Understand the main concepts and importance of Human Parasitology in
basic and clinical medicine, and how to study the course
content.
(2)
Understand the harmfulness of parasitoses to humans, the status quo of
parasitoses in our country and the grand achievement we
have accomplished in the course of parasitoses control.
(3)
Master some concepts: parasitism, parasite, host. Master life cycle,
infective stage and infective route of parasites. Master
the relationship between a parasite and host. Master the
immune reaction to parasitic infection.
(4)
Become familiar with the general rules and the features of parasitoses
spreading and prevention of parasitoses.

Concepts of parasitism , symbiosis, mutualism, commensalism , parasite
and host.
(2)
Classification of parasite: endoparasite; ectoparasite; obligate
parasite; facultative parasite; opportunistic parasite.
(3)
Classification of final host or definitive host; intermediate host;
reservoir host; paratenic host
(4)
Life cycle, infective stage and infective route of parasites.

The relationship between parasite and host
1) Pathogenic effects of parasites: physical trauma;
taking nutrition from the host; chemical damage
2) Defensive effects of the host: innate immunity;
acquired immunity ( sterilizing immunity, non-
sterilizing immunity ); immune evasion.
