                     Chapter 11 Plasmodium  

1. Objectives:

(1)         Master the life cycle of P.vivax and the different aspects of four species of Plasmodium in the process of development.

(2)         Master the shape and differentiated features of four species of Plasmodium in erythrocytic stage.

(3)         Master the mechanism of malaria paroxysm and its main manifestations; the concepts of recrudescence and relapse.

(4)         Master its main diagnostic methods.

(5)         Be familiar with the immune features and pathogenic mechanism of malaria.

(6)         Be familiar with the basic factors in transmission and the main vectors in epidemic areas and prevention of malaria.

2. Contents:

(1)         The name of four species of Plasmodium and its distribution.

(2)         The life cycle of P.vivax and the different aspects of four species of Plasmodium in the process of development; the shape and differentiated features of four species of Plasmodium in erythrocytic stage.

(3)         The mechanism of malaria paroxysm and its main manifestations; the conceptions of recrudescence and relapse.

(4)         The immune features and mechanism of malaria.

(5)         Its main diagnostic methods.

(6)         Transmission, epidimilogy and prevention.
